Madison’s Story

*Madison is the sister to co-owner Jordan.

Madison graduated with honors from her high school in Beaverton, Oregon in June, 2015. She was a competitive figure skater, captain of her cross country team, a volunteer with the special needs community, a member of the National Honor Society and Model United Nations delegate, and she held a job.

She had just begun her freshman year at Chapman University in California pursuing a degree in Peace Studies when she began to struggle with what she thought was a sinus infection that would not respond to antibiotics. Soon after, her eye began to swell and she began to experience double vision and headaches.

In November, 2015 a CT found a tumor in her right sinus that was later determined to be Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. She began immediate treatment at UCLA Medical Center. When she was stable, she transferred home to the pediatric oncology team at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.

Over the next 10 months, Madison went through chemo and radiation and in August, was declared, cancer free. But, in October, 2016, it was discovered that the cancer was back with a vengeance. She went through more rounds of chemo and radiation until January 14th, 2017, when she went peacefully into the night.

Madison’s bonbon pays tribute to the amazing person she was and the design represents her favorite color, yellow, and the two lines her ice skates made on the ice.
